Barcelona's Urban Evolution: A Satellite Perspective from 1984 to 2017

These satellite images depict urban changes of Barcelona. The first pair shows changes from 1984 to 2004, the second pair from 1987 to 2014, and the third pair from 1984 to 2017. The comparisons illustrate how Barcelona's skyline has evolved, with new developments particularly along the coast near the harbour and in the areas extending to the airport on the coast. The last image was acquired by Sentinel-2 and demonstrates the high quality of optical imagery produced by this satellite under the Copernicus program.
