Athens' Urban Evolution: A Satellite Perspective from 1984 to 2014

The first and second images illustrate the development of Athens from 1985 to 2019, particularly toward the north and northeast of the capital. The third and fourth images capture changes over a slightly larger area around Athens from 1984 to 2004. These comparisons vividly show the significant urban expansion along the Piraeus coast and further inland within the Attica region. The fifth image highlights the Saronic Gulf, with Athens visible in the middle left of the image as a white cluster.
