Zurich's Urban Evolution: A Satellite Perspective from 1985 to 2004

These Landsat 5 images, spanning 19 years, showcase the urban expansion of Zurich. Significant development took place from 1970 to 1990, highlighted by highway construction until 1980 and the establishment of a new short-range railway system, which transformed Zurich into an urban region. Lake Zurich is visible as a dark area at the image's bottom centre, with the Limmat River running through it. Zurich International Airport appears as a large white area north of the city, while Lake Lucerne is visible in the lower left corner of the images.
