Flood in Europe (Germany), 1997

In 1997, Germany experienced catastrophic flooding, particularly along the Oder River. These satellite images showcase the flooded confluence between the Oder and Warta rivers and along the Oder near Frankfurt. The first image shows the Oder River, marking the border between Poland and Germany, with visible flooding at the bottom. The second image focuses mainly on areas near the river, highlighting significant flooding at the river confluence. The third image displays flooded parts as dark areas, located at the confluence between the Oder and Warta rivers, and along the Oder. The fourth image illustrates the confluence area with Frankfurt visible as a cluster of bright dots at the bottom right. The last two images are multi-temporal composites captured over the area around Frankfurt in the Warta River area, showing flooding along the Oder and Warta river plains. For more visual insights into how this flood impacted Poland and Czechia, explore the articles: Flood in Europe (Poland) and Flood in Europe (Czechia).
