The Saemangeum Dam in Korea, one of the world's largest sea walls at 33.9 kilometres long, links the Yellow Sea with the mainland. Completed in 2010, this massive engineering project aimed to create new land for agriculture and boost local economies. These satellite images chronicle the dam's development over the years. The first image is a collage depicting construction phases from May 1992 to September 2010. The second image is a multi-layer image created by merging three different images acquired in 1993, 1999, and 2010, highlighting notable changes in development, recognisable in green and blue, with the dam and the free economic zone in different construction phases. The third image is a collage used to create the second image. The fourth image, captured in 2013, shows the completed dam and artificial islands still under construction in light brown colour. The last image is a collage illustrating the coastal area before and after the dam's construction, spanning from 1987 to 2013.
