Urban Evolution of Kumasi (Ghana)
Kumasi is the capital city of the Ashanti region and a very important historical centre for Ghana. Located near Lake Bosumtwi in a rainforest region, Kumasi has undergone significant urbanization. The first image shows a comparison between two multi-spectral images acquired over the city, highlighting major urbanization concentrated to the southeast of the city, toward Lake Bosumtwi, with one image from 1986 and another from 2002. The second image is a collage depicting the rapid urbanization of the city from December 1995 to September 2010. The third image is a multi-colour merge created by combining three images, with layers colour-coded to highlight changes: red represents data from 1995, green from 1999, and blue from 2010. The last image contains the three images used to create the third multi-colour merge.
