Sandstorm Egypt, December 2010

These satellite images depict Egypt under different conditions. The first image captures a sandstorm in December 2010, which disrupted daily life, halting transportation and reducing visibility, affecting both residents and tourists. The second image shows Egypt during clear weather. Most of Egypt’s terrain is desert, bisected by the Nile River, which is visible in the centre of the image to the west of the Red Sea. The capital and largest city, Cairo, appears as a grey area near the Nile River delta, located in the upper left of the image.
