In June 2017, a series of wildfires swept through central Portugal, particularly impacting the Pedrógão Grande area. Exacerbated by an intense heatwave and dry conditions, these fires caused significant loss of life and extensive damage to properties and forests. These images, captured by the Landsat 8 satellite, show central Portugal before and after the mid-June fires. Acquired within a 15-day window, the images highlight the extensive forest areas affected by the fires.
