Envisat - 25,000 orbits, December 2006
The Envisat satellite, launched in 2002, celebrated its 25,000th orbit by capturing two distinct views of Earth on December 11, 2006. The first image, a Level 1 image from the Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometre (MERIS), showcases the Dominican Republic. The second image, captured in Envisat ASAR Alternating Polarization Mode (APP), provides a multi-colour radar layer view of New Brunswick, Canada. These images mark Envisat's significant milestone of circling our planet 25,000 times.
