Flood in Béziers (France), January 1996

In 1996, Béziers, France, experienced a devastating flood caused by heavy rainfall, leading to the overflow of the Orb River. The floodwaters inundated large parts of the city, causing damage to homes, infrastructure, and farmlands. These satellite images depict the flooded area; the first image has been merged using ERS-1/ERS-2 SAR data. The second image is a zoom-in of the first picture and includes annotations. The last image is a superimposed view, where colors depict different dates of acquisitions: red for data from 07 August 1995, green from 29 January 1996, and blue from 28 January 1996.
