Cyclone Yali, March 1998

In March 1998, Cyclone Yali swept through the South Pacific, impacting regions from Vanuatu to New Zealand with high winds and heavy rains, causing significant damage to infrastructure and ecosystems. The first image uses data from the ERS satellite's Wind Scatterometre to visualize the cyclone, noting a maximum wind speed of 55 knots. The second image, from NOAA, captures Yali positioned between New Caledonia and Australia. The third is a composite image, overlaying ERS Wind Scatterometre data onto a GMS meteorological image from March 24th.
