GeoEye-1 was designed to be the world's highest-resolution commercial Earth-imaging satellite. It was part of a constellation of the original OrbImage company which included the existing OrbView 3 satellite and together the constellation was able to collect more than 1.2 million square kilometres of imagery per day with a combined revisit period of less than 1.5 days for any geographic target.
