Calbuco Volcano eruption (Chile), April 2015

The first two images, acquired by Landsat 8, depict the Calbuco Volcano in Chile. On 22 April 2015, the volcano began its latest period of activity, marked by eruptions and the emission of gas, ash, and lava. In these images, the large plume emerging from the volcano's crater is clearly visible. The third image, acquired by Sentinel-1 from March to May, captures the eruption phase that began in April. This composite image uses a colour merge to highlight in red the areas where lava emerged from the volcano.
