SMOS data distribution resumed

13 Mar 2024

SMOS data distribution to end users was resumed on 12 March 2024 after confirmation of the adequate quality of the current data.

The ingestion of the data backlog is ongoing, and expected to be completed by 14 March 2024 EOB.

The reason for this data outage was due to the two spacecrafts transitioning to safe mode on 22 February at 05:10 UTC and 3 March at 15:59 UTC, respectively. The root cause is still under investigation.

These events have resulted in the following data gaps at L1B level: 2024/02/21T23:40z-2024/02/27T16:22z and 2024/03/03T12:21z-2024/03/07T17:11z.
