Description: As part of an unprecedented analysis, researchers used Envisat data to determine the mean area impacted by oil slicks for a 10-year period in the Gulf of Guinea. Natural oil seepage across this time remained constant, but human-induced oil spills varied according to a number of factors, including the 2008 global economic shut down.
