Following completion of the commissioning phase for ESA’s EarthCARE (Cloud, Aerosol, and Radiation Explorer) mission, the first set of data products are now openly available.

Previously available to the expert teams supporting satellite commissioning, and calibration and validation, Level 1 data are now available to anyone with an account in ESA’s EO Sign In service.

Level 1 data products contain fully processed, calibrated, and geolocated measurements acquired by EarthCARE’s Atmospheric LIDAR (ATLID), Broadband Radiometer (BBR), Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR), and Multispectral Imager (MSI). Each instrument plays an important role in supporting the mission’s goal to help us understand the relationship between Earth’s clouds, aerosols, and radiation.
