Rome's Urban Evolution: A Satellite Perspective from 1987 to 2014

These Landsat 5 and 8 satellite images, spanning 24 years, capture the urban changes in Rome and its surroundings, particularly in the northeast. Situated in the Lazio region of central Italy, Rome sits along the Tiber River (Italian: Tevere). While the city centre lies about 24 kilometre inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea, Rome's territory extends to the shore, encompassing the southwestern district of Ostia.
