Lake Mead & Las Vegas Transformation: A Satellite Perspective from 1991 to 2018

These Landsat 5 and 8 satellite images, spanning 27 years, showcase the urban development of Las Vegas while also depicting the water level of Lake Mead. Situated on the colourado River, Lake Mead is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States, created by the construction of the Hoover Dam in the 1930s. Serving as a vital water source for millions in the southwestern United States, Lake Mead has faced challenges from drought and increased demand, raising concerns about water levels and ecosystem health over the years.
