These Landsat 5 and 8 satellite images, spanning 31 years, depict the evolving urban landscape of Izmir and its coastal areas. Situated in the western extremity of Anatolia, Izmir stretches along the Gulf of Izmir, extending across the Gediz River and the southern plains. The city was significantly affected by an earthquake on August 17, 1999, which caused damage to the northwestern part of the country, including Izmir.
