Hurricane Stan (Mexico), October 2005

Hurricane Stan, originating in October 2005 in the Caribbean Sea, made landfall on Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula before flooding Central America with rainfall. Guatemala was particularly hard-hit, with mudslides claiming numerous lives and causing extensive damage to infrastructure. The first image, taken over the Pacific Ocean coasts, captures Hurricane Stan's path along the shores of Guatemala and Honduras. The second image depicts the storm's impact as it battered Mexico's Gulf coast.
