Other EO Training
In addition to the programmes listed in the Overview page, ESA organises other EO training events on an ad hoc basis, and produces EO training material at various levels.
Below is a list of each training package listed in chronological order (to access the material for each package, click on the links provided in the list):
Training on Earth Observation Remote Sensing, with a focus on Optical, Radar and Thermal Infrared sensors and their applications. From 10-14 December 2018 at ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium.
Applications are open to Master and phD students from ESA Member and Associate states. Application deadline: 26 October 2018.
ESA and CONAE are organising a SAR course in preparation of CONAE's SAOCOM mission during November 2018 in Buenos Aires. The application deadline is 5 October 2018.
Training on Earth Observation from optical and radar sensors, with emphasis on combining Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 for environmental applications. Exercises used the Sentinels Applications Platform (SNAP) software, sometimes combined with other open source software (QGIS, Orfeo Toolbox, Rstudio). The course was held in Bratislava, Slovakia.
Training for early-career scientists on remote sensing of land-cover changes and ecosystem dynamics. The purpose of the Trans-Atlantic Training (TAT) courses are to share and discuss advanced research methods and technologies from space during a series of meetings for scientists and students from both Europe and the USA.
Course aimed at the promotion and dissemination of Earth Observation (EO) technology in a variety of science and industry fields for postgraduate students, mainly from ESA European Cooperating States (ECS). The course was held in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Training course on the evaluation of impacts of land use/land cover change on ecosystems (e.g. forest disturbances, agricultural land changes) through multisensor analysis. The training is the fifth in the series of Trans-Atlantic Training (TAT) courses.
Theory and practical training course on optical and radar remote sensing. Practical exercises focus on the processing of Sentinel data with the Sentinels Application Platform (SNAP) software. The course is held in Cesis, Latvia.
Training course on the theory and applications of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). The course is held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Training on remote sensing for archaeological applications. Held at ESA/ESRIN on the occasion of the 5th EARSeL workshop "Advances in Remote Sensing for Cultural Heritage: from site detection, to documentation and monitoring".
Training course on the theory and applications of spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). The course is held in Maribor, Slovenia.
A modular course on spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), at beginner level, for different thematic application areas (forest, agriculture, marine applications, GIS/GPS integration, archaeology).
The training course will provide participants with an introduction to radar remote sensing technology as well as examples of end-user applications of this technique relevant to Cyprus. The course takes place in Nicosia, Cyprus.
