Minimize EGU GIFT Workshop 2010

The teachers' workshops are part of the GIFT program on Geosciences Information for Teachers, organized by the EGU for the General Assemblies.

The Merida GIFT workshop was the first organized in cooperation with the thematic conference program of the Humboldt conferences.

The purpose of the GIFT workshops are to offer teachers of elementary to high school the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge in geophysical themes and to shorten the time between new discoveries and textbook information. Each workshop focuses on a particular theme. The 2010 workshop took place from 17 – 19 March in Merida, Mexico, and the theme was "Climate Change, Natural Hazards, and Societies".

ESA contributed to this event by providing theoretical and practical training in EO applications related to the theme of the workshop. The practical sessions involved processing ESA and ESA third party mission data with the free ESA software toolboxes. For more information on EGU GIFT, visit the website.
